Healthy Food# 1RAW APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Raw apple cider vinegar has gained popularity in the Western World over the past decades. It’s good to know we’re catching up with the rest of the world!  It has many health benefits. Apple cider vinegar can improve digestion, restore your body’s natural pH, and decrease inflammation. As we know, women dealing with hormonal issues may have a lot of inflammation processes going on inside. Drinking apple cider vinegar can help control this inflammation. Raw apple cider vinegar is also perfect for that stubborn belly fat.

Consuming raw apple cider vinegar on a daily basis will also increase your energy level and improve your liver function. It contains lots of elements such as potassium, pectin, malic acid, and calcium that our cells need to function correctly.

What’s fantastic about raw apple cider vinegar is that since it’s not pasteurized,  enzymes and gut-friendly bacteria are still in there and will help bring back your gut health. Plus, apple cider is also great for skin and hair too!

How to consume

The taste can be stingy when undiluted, so try to ingest with equal parts of water, preferably in the morning to get everything started the right foot! You can also mix some up with your homemade salad dressing.

Healthy Food# 2CHIA SEEDS

Organic chia seeds are anti-oxidants rich too, which means they can slow down the aging process and help our bodies fight threats from within.

Got constipation problems? This superfood contains 11 grams of fiber per ounce, so your bowel will move easily. What’s fantastic about fibers is that they also regulate our insulin levels. And we know that insulin resistance plays a vital role in hormonal imbalance conditions such as PCOS.

Healthy Food# 3SEA VEGETABLES

As a natural way to support the adrenals and the thyroid, seaweed is fantastic. It is rich in minerals and trace elements including calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, iodine, manganese, and chromium. Unfortunately, some seaweed brands contain large amounts of heavy metals. If you’re like me, you need your peace of mind and want to know how much metal is in the brand you choose. I invite you to check out this website. After entering your email address, they will tell you how much of every heavy metal is in the most common brands of seaweed. Based on my findings, I prefer to consume Annie Chun’s brand.

How to consume

In salads, or you can even make homemade sushi with it. Do your research to find the best brand near you, as some can contain heavy metals.

Healthy Food# 4: COCONUT OIL

This oil contains lots of saturated fat, but it is a medium-chain fatty acid, which

the bodcoconut oil benefitsy digests not as fat but as pure energy. Coconut oil will speed up your metabolism too! It also contains lauric acid, which has antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties.

It also improves adrenal and thyroid health. Coconut oil is a terrific choice for frying, as it supports high heat.

There’s been a debate as to whether coconut oil is beneficial or harmful to our health. The American Heart Association mentions that coconut oil can raise LDL, which is known as the bad cholesterol. But they don’t say that it can also increase good cholesterol, known as HDL.

Cholesterol levels may not be the proper way to measure our risk of heart disease. As Dr. Axe mentions it, the cause of heart disease is inflammation. And coconut oil does help to decrease inflammation.

Not only is it beneficial for all these reasons, but it can also help people lose weight and improve their brain health. So I let you decide what’s best! I use this brand because I know it’s organic, freshly pressed and fair-trade. Its quality makes it more expensive, but I’ve never been disappointed by it.

How to consume

In small amounts in sauteed vegetables and rice cooking. It brings a distinctive flavor to everything!

  • Hi Didi! Thanks for the great post on the 5 must- adds food! I knew about the chia seeds and the coconut oil but the rest I was completely ignorant about them! The organic sea weeds I have never seen and tasted. Do they taste nice?
Thanks for sharing and caution us about the heavy metal!

    • Hi Shalini,

      Thanks for reading this post!

I honestly swear by seaweed snacks, so I’m very biased when it comes to the taste: I simply love seaweed snack. But they do come in multiple flavors too such as sesame and wasabi. My only suggestion would be to try them, and let me know how you found them.

      God bless,

      Didi

  • Oh yes!

I am into healthy foods. I use apple cider almost every day. I just add a tablespoon in a glass of water. I use the same brand too, Braggs because its raw with the mother. I’ve never tried the raw cacao though. Do you use that often? It seems like it will have a bitter taste to it. Isn’t it amazing how something like chocolate is actually healthy?
I also love my kale chips!

    • Hi Staci!

I love raw cacao! For sure, it doesn’t taste like milk chocolate, which isn’t healthy. And I had to grow into its taste. Now I actually enjoy it. Plus knowing that it has added healthy benefits helps a lot!!

      Stay blessed!!

      Didi
